2008 PORTRAIT FEE SCHEDULE

Oil: from $2000 
Full Color Watercolor: from $1800
Monochromatic Watercolor: from $1500
Charcoal or Graphite: from $1000

Miniature pet portraits in watercolor begin at $200.

Charcoal or Graphite: A black and white drawing on white or toned archival paper or watercolor board.

Monochromatic Watercolor: One basic hue such as tones of pink, green, blue or gray on archival watercolor paper or board.

Full Color Watercolor: Full color watercolor which may include the use of Prismacolor pencil or pastel for enhancement on archival watercolor paper or board.

Oil: Professional artists’ oil on cotton or linen (additional fee) canvas.


PORTRAIT COMMISSION AGREEMENT

Style and Quality: The portrait will be executed by Gayle Hurley in conformity with her established procedures and recognized style. A more complex background may cost up to 50% more.

Sittings: The artist will come to your home or another agreed-upon place to photograph the subject(s).

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the price of the portrait will be due upon signing the commission agreement. After the pose is selected and preliminary sketches are approved, 30% will be due before painting begins.

Completion Time: Estimated completion time will be given once the pose is determined and every effort will be made to insure prompt delivery. The client is welcome to call the artist at any time to check the progress.

Balance: Once the painting is approved (either in person or via email or photos) the balance (60%)is due when the portrait is delivered in person unless a payment plan is arranged in advance. Whenever shipping is necessary, the balance must be received before the portrait is sent unless other payment plans are made. Sales tax will apply to Alabama residents.

Crating and Shipping: The costs of crating, shipping and insuring, if required, are the responsibility of the client.

Framing: The portrait will be delivered unframed unless special arrangements are made. I will be happy to help you choose and purchase an appropriate frame.  The cost of the frame is not included in the commission price.

Travel Expenses: Travel and living expenses, when it is necessary for the artist to leave the Birmingham area, will be billed as they are incurred.
